Our Ecofriendly Fabrics
Most of our solid-colored swimsuits are made from VITA, a regenerated nylon that isn’t heavy or stiff like some swimwear fabrics tend to be. It is lightweight, but with excellent coverage, UV protection, shape retention, and breathability. Because of its innovative construction, Vita is twice as impervious to chlorine, sunscreen, and tanning oils when compared to other fabrics. This regenerated nylon isderived from industrial waste, such as used carpets or rejected fishing nets that, instead of ending up in a landfill, are retrieved and restored!
VITA is only one of the impressive fabrics offered by Carvico. We have chosen this particular Italian company to supply us with fabric because they possess a profound awareness of what is happening to our planet, particularly to our waters. Carvico’s commitment to sustainable options in the fabric industry is incredibly admirable.
Cheap swimwear is made hastily, using cheap fabric from polluted industry where taxes are not high and basic health standards and responsibilities are not adhered to. In fact, the opposite is often true – some are dumping chemicals straight into the water. Carvico, on the other hand, is collecting debris from our oceans. Although their prices for fabric might be slightly higher, Carvico’s practices areheavily conscious of environment, which is something we’re very proud to support and promote.
At Plumeria, we are strongly against dubious practices that harm the environment. What we provide is quality swimwear with thoughtful construction, using fabrics that have been carefully selected.
It saddens us to see that many fabric companies do not have a plan in place to help the fashion industry stay clean. This is why people are able to find online bikinis priced at $20, or even $10. Companies cannot offer super cheap pricing without sacrificing ethics and/or quality. There may be limited options, but Plumeria is dedicated to doing their part. We’ve kept our swimwear affordable without sacrificing our morals.
“The greatest threat to our planet is the belief that someone else will save it.”

“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.”
